after sundown..

“It is by going down into the abyss
that we recover the treasures of life.
Where you stumble,
there lies your treasure.”
 [Joseph Campbell]

and down into our own musical abyss - the Void - is where we’ll be headed after sundown this Tuesday, for a special spontaneous selection of musical treasures - stark, dark, delicious and wild..!

9pm Tuesday April 1st [no kidding]..

go to 90hz.org to listen and chat, or use the flashplayer below. And the chat’s been rockin’ the last couple of weeks, so I’ll do my best to drop in as often as I can during this show..

Bliss Hunter

my guest this week will be local musical aficionado, disco dilettante & vinyl hoarder - Conor. You may have caught him spinning around town with Travis (T.K Disco), or manning the counter at Tweekin’ Records on a Saturday afternoon. The man knows his music, and I am stoked to have him on the show with me. If you liked Derry’s, or T.K’s guest selections in the VOID, then you’re gonna love Conor’s head nodding mix of mind blowing musical treasures..

9pm Tuesday March 25th..

go to 90hz.org to LISTEN and CHAT or use the flashplayer below. And last weeks’ chat session was a whole lot of silly fun, so join me there again this week, if you dare. And don’t forget you need to REGISTER on the 90hz forum to gain access to the chatboard..

anarcho archive up..

I’m currently working on getting the backlog of show archives up for you to listen to. Top of the list is cosmic punk #3, a recent rockin disco show, the acid xmas show, as well as Thomas (Rub’n'Tug) and Garth (Wicked)’s guest sets from a while back..

But I’m starting out with last week’s special 3 hour ‘anarcho’ noisefromthevoid..

And for those of you who missed the show - DON’T expect a bunch of electronic/dance/dance grooves - it’s mostly obscure anarcho-punk-rock, starting out mellow but building up to the noisier stuff as we go along. It’s both serious and fun, and is an exploration of some of my musical interests during my late teens back in the U.K.

check my previous BLOG POST for more info..

As it turns out I had quite alot of anarcho stuff I never got around to playing, so there may be a follow-up show sometime later in the year..

And here’s the playlist -

Harvey interview over on Betablog..

Stumbled across an interview w/old mate Harvey the other day. On BETA BLOG. There’s also some interviews w/Thomas (ex-wicked), The dude from the Chromatics (one of my fave younger bands), Morgan Geist and more..

It’s part of series relating to an article in SPIN magazine about ‘the return of disco’ [big yawn].

And Harvey’s interview is head and shoulders above the others IMHO. Especially his understanding of the relationship between disco & punk, his reference to Paul Simpson, and his comments about the excess of disco re-edits around these days. Nice one Harv..! : )

Spring - where new collides with old, ever so colorfully..

And the shadows of spring abound, at least out here on the West Coast, which means longer brighter days and warmer glowing nights. So join me after the sun goes down for some more musical mystery in the ever changing void..

Mon Ami..

posting part 1 of the short film Mon Ami, because it contains the fabulously ethereal 2006 shoegazer track from Robin Guthrie called Continental.

And who is Robin Guthrie, you ask? He’s the guitar playing genius from the Cocteau Twins, of course. And if you need to ask who the Cocteau Twins were, then you’re probably not half as old as I am. ha, ha..
