In car turntable?
From Crave on CNET

“According to an article on the UAW-DaimlerChrysler National Training Center Web site, these record players–made by Columbia and offered as options on 1956 Chrysler, DeSoto, Dodge, and Plymouth models–could handle 45-speed records as well as 7-inch records in the new 16-2/3 format. The players were installed on a slide-out turntable beneath the dash and hidden behind a drop-down door that could be opened at the push of a button. Way before people were banging on about multimedia convergence, drivers could switch between the radio tuner and the phonograph with the flip of a switch and use the same volume and equalizer controls for both sources.
Alas, problems abounded with the system: Records skipped as the car encountered uneven surfaces. And an exclusive content arrangement with Columbia meant that drivers could listen only to artists signed to Columbia Records. According to the UAW Web site, the option initially lasted for only one model year, and despite resurgence a couple of year later, it was finally abandoned.”

Aww sh*t, for a moment there I though about trading in my bike and getting a car.. ; )

The 13th Floor Elevators..
Generally regarded as one of the first psychedelic bands, I discovered the Elevators in my teenage years, while briefly exploring the U.S Garage Punk sound of the 60’s and 70’s. I play them on the void occassionally, and man their music still rocks. Here they are letting loose with their classic “You’re Gonna Miss Me”..

Archive of Tuesday’s “Rapture” show now up..
starts out slow and dreamy, picks up the pace about an hour in and rocks for the next two hours with a mixture of contemporary dance trax, some acid house, some italo and balearic influenced beats, some disco jams and re-edits. Finally breaks into some psychedelic rock about an hour before the end, and finishes up with several cosmic rock/disco tracks..
enjoy!

Soft Machine..
the SoftMachine were a cult sixties band, quirky psychedelic hipsters, and talented musicians with an experimental flair. They were formed in the U.K in 1966 and played with early Pink Floyd, Hendrix, had Daevid Allen of psychedelic legends Gong in their original line-up, and even had Andy Summers (in his pre-Police days) play and tour with them briefly in ‘68..
As their infamous drummer Robert Wyatt once said “Our music is like an orgasmus.”

‘Rhythm of the Heathen’ archive now up..
I split the show archive into 2 parts as I felt is was a lil’ too long to put up as a single file..
Part 1 is about 40 minutes of me opening up and warming things up, followed by the first half of Foos’ set..
Part 2 is the 2nd half of Foos’ set, followed by about 1 hour and 20 minutes of disco glory from moi..
